Terms - Serenity in Chains
We ship all ready-to-ship designs within 3-5 business days from your purchase.
If you have a tight deadline, and need your order to ship faster, please purchases Rush. See Rush Processing for more details.
Made to Order vs. Pre-Made
Most items in the shop are “pre-made” and ready to ship. This means the item is already handcrafted and in stock.
However, there are a small selection of items that are Made to Order. These items are handcrafted after your order is placed and may take 1-2 weeks to ship. All Made to Order items in my shop are clearly marked Made to Order.
Made to Order also includes custom designs. All custom designs have extended production times that will be communicated to you during the Custom Design Consultation.
The product(s) you receive might vary slightly from the product picture due to the nature of your product(s) being 100% handcrafted.
Care for your new product(s) by:
* Wash with gentle soap in warm water.
* Pat dry immediately after showering or remove during showering.
Your product(s) can be damaged if:
* Jewelry not marked “play acceptable” is pulled or tugged on.
* Your jewelry is exposed to prolonged sunlight.
*Your jewelry is exposed to harsh chemicals or cleaners.
We ship via USPS or UPS. All order ship in unmarked packages to maintain your privacy.
Due to Covid-19 and a severe limitation of the USPS system, we can no longer guarantee that your package will arrive with USPS. We highly encourage you to choose UPS shipping at checkout, as UPS has been more reliable with faster transit times. Please note that UPS CAN NOT deliver to a P.O. box. You must put a standard, physical address in as your shipping address.
Should you still choose USPS as your shipping carrier, please note that your package may take a month or more to arrive in the US, and up to 6 months internationally.
We highly encourage you to purchase shipping insurance through a third party insurer against the event that your package does not arrive. Packages lost in transit are not covered by Serenity in Chains and will not be refunded. You will need to file an insurance claim with your third party insurance provider to recover the value of your purchase.
Please note that we do not have the ability to locate your package beyond the tracking information available to you online via the carrier website.
Expedited shipping is available at checkout, and is a great way to get your packages from our studio to your hands more quickly.
Please note that choosing Priority or Express Shipping at checkout does not affect processing times. We will still need 3-5 business days to process your order, unless you have chosen Rush Processing.
We want you to be 100% in love with your purchase. If for some reason you are not, please contact us so we can make it right.
If you would like to return your purchase, please make sure to include your order number and email address on your request so that we can assist you as quickly as possible.
Please ensure the following when completing your return:
- The design is in original, unused condition with original packaging.
- Make your return request within 15 days of receipt.
- Send your jewelry back by the 30th day after receipt (must be postmarked by this date to be accepted).
- Optional but strongly recommended: purchase shipping that includes tracking and insurance, in case your package becomes lost in transit.
Non defective designs that are returned are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Please Note that Nipple Jewelry and other intimate jewelry items are non returnable due to hygiene concerns. Should you have an issue with your nipple jewelry, such as a problem getting the jewelry to stay on, please contact us so we can give you advice on how to wear the nipple nooses properly.

There are certain situations where only partial refunds / no refunds are granted: (if applicable)
- Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
- Any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery.
- Items returned as non-deliverable not due to our error.
- Items returned due to non payment of international customs/import fees.
Returns must be made with prior approval, and shipping is to be paid by the customer (excluding items that arrived defective). Please Contact Us if you need to make a return.
Items shipped back without return confirmation from a Serenity in Chains artisan will be forfeit.
Please also note that refunds are processed, less the shipping charge. Shipping is paid directly to the shipping carrier and is not recoverable.

Please include your name, and order number in your return package so that we can process your return as quickly as possible.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
It is strongly recommended that you use a traceable shipping service and/or purchasing shipping insurance for your return package. This ensures that you can track your package, and recover it’s value should the carrier misplace it. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item, as packages can become lost in transit, and we cannot process a return without receiving the item.
At Serenity in Chains we guarantee that your purchase will be free from major defect. However, on occasion a hidden flaw may slip through. Should you find your product arrives defective, please notify us within 30 days of receipt so we can make it right. We will replace your purchase, repair the design, or help you return your purchase for refund.
For defective item returns, a return shipping label will be furnished to you for your convenience once we have worked together to determine your purchase arrived defective.
Non defective returns are to be shipped back at the buyer’s expense. A 15% restocking fee will be charged for items returned that are not defective.
Custom Made Returns
Please note that Custom Made Items are not returnable unless deemed defective by a Serenity in Chains artisan, in which case they will be repaired or replaced. This is due to the personalized nature of our custom made products.
Purchased the wrong size or color and need to exchange your piece for the right one? No problem!
You can exchange any unworn design during the return window for the same design in the correct size or color for no additional charge.
Simply use the Contact Us form to request an exchange. Once your exchange is approved, you can send it back to:

Please ensure that you include your name, and your order number in your package to expedite the processing of your exchange.
Should your Serenity in Chains purchase become damaged, I am happy to repair it for you for a small fee. Simply contact me with your Order Number, and how the damaged incurred before you send it in for repair.
You may be asked to provide picture of the damage so that I may better advise you on your repair.
Shipping to and from our studio will be the responsibility of the customer.
Most items are repairable. However, should your item be determined to be damaged beyond repair you may either decide to have the item shipped back to you in it’s damaged state, or allow us to dispose of the irreparable piece, with the option to purchase a new one.
This decision is solely at your discretion. Should you choose to have the item returned to you, an invoice for return shipping will be provided to you and must be paid prior to the item being returned to you.
In some cases, although an item is repairable, the repair may exceed the original value of the piece. Should this be the case you will be notified immediately and may decided to replace the item with a new purchase, rather than have it repaired.
Once a repair quote or invoice has been sent, items left at our studio in excess of 30 days without a decision as to repair/replace/discard (and all appropriate fees paid) will be forfeited and discarded.
How can I pay?
We are happy to accept all major credit cards, debit cards with a major credit card logo, or you can pay using your PayPal balance!
Is your site secure?
Yes! Your payment information is strictly secured by our payment processors. We never even see your credit card info, and it is never stored on our site.
Do I have to have a PayPal account to buy?
No! You can pay with a credit card directly at checkout, or your can choose paypal. If you would like to use paypal without an account, simply click the ‘pay without logging in’ below the Paypal login.
Please be aware that E-checks through Paypal may take 5-7 business days to clear and may delay shipping of your purchase. Purchases will not ship until payment has cleared. This may take 5-7 business days, and we are unable to affect this process. We appreciate your patience
Ohio residents will be charged a 7.25% sales tax.
International Taxes, Fees, and Duties
All international import taxes, fees, duties, and other charges will be your responsibility. Unfortunately, we are not able to effect these fees as it they are regulated and charged by your local government. We mark all packages as “Merchandise” with the correct value declared as required by international law. If you have questions about a fee charged for importing goods, please contact your local customs department.
ALL EU CUSTOMERS ARE NOW CHARGED A VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT) at delivery! Please note this is NOT a fee we charge you, or can pay for you. It is an import tax charged by your government to all EU customers for purchases made internationally, and not something initiated by Serenity in Chains. Please be prepared to remit this fee to your customs department upon package arrival. Refusal of a package due to VAT tax will be subject to our Non Defective Return Policy (see above), including the 15% restocking fee.
If you need to cancel an order, please contact us immediately to do so. Once your order has shipped we are not able to cancel your order, and it will be treated as a return. Since we try to ship your purchase at light speed, it is very important that when you purchase you are ready to own a little piece of serenity from Serenity in Chains.
Custom Order Cancellations
Custom Order cancellations must be made withing 24 hours of purchase. This is due to the customized nature of the design, and special materials that we may order to complete your custom piece. Once work is started on your custom design, we can not cancel the order.
By purchasing from Serenity in Chains you agree to release Serenity in Chains Ltd., and any of it’s artists or affiliates (hereto referred as Serenity in Chains) from legal action should you experience any harm or physical injury during the wear / use of our products. You acknowledge that all designs are sold as fashion accessories and are not intended to any other use. You agree that any locking jewelry is purchased with the understanding that a key should always be available and that there is a risk of physical injury or death should locking jewelry be worn in situations that involve mechanical machinery, moving objects, or situations in which the jewelry may become caught and pulled. You further acknowledge that Serenity in Chains make no claims as to any health benefits of any of it’s products.
